Vestibular Therapy at Michiana Spine

Have you ever experienced dizziness or loss of balance? More than 1/3rd of the adults in the USA, forty and older, have experienced some sort of vestibular dysfunction. The vestibular system includes parts of the inner ear and brain that help control balance and eye movement.  Dizziness in itself is not a disease, but rather a symptom within the peripheral or central nervous system. One common type of vestibular disorder is Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV). Symptoms include dizziness or vertigo, light headedness, imbalance issues and nausea. Activities that aggravate the problem are always related to head positions.  Other types of disorders include vestibular neuritis, labyrinthitis, acoustic neuroma, Meniere's Disease or symptoms associated with a concussion. These symptoms can include headaches, difficulty concentrating and visual disturbances.

If you or someone you know is experiencing motion sickness type symptoms, unsteadiness, dizziness, difficulty focusing, difficulty reading or frequent headaches, call our vestibular physical therapist at Michiana Spine at 269-428-6784.
